| Personification | something non- human doing something only humans do |
| Alliteration | The repetition of the same sounds at the beginning of words |
| Hyperbole | An extreme exaggeration |
| Onomatopoeia | words that imitate the sounds they describe |
| Metaphor | A comparison without using "like" or "as" |
| Simile | A comparison using "like" or "as" |
| Stanza | A paragraph in a poem |
| End rhyme | Last words of each line ends with the same sound |
| Allusion | A brief reference to something or someone |
| Couplet | Two lines that rhyme |
| Haiku | A single subject poem in 3 lines that do not rhyme |
| Dialogue | Lines spoken by actors in a script |
| Drama | A story written to be preformed by actors: a play |
| Act | A major section of a play, mode of several scenes |
| Scene | A subdivision of an act |
| Script | The written text of a play |
