Term | Definition |

Playwright | The author of a play/drama |
Character | the person in a play (part of the cast) |
Dialogue | the words spoken by characters in the play |
Narrator | The person telling the story |
Curtain | This term is used to show that an act, scene, or play has ended. It refers to the curtain closing. |
Scenes | the minor sections a play is divided into. Each scene often has a different setting. |
Acts | the major sections a play is divided into.The beginning of a new act can be set in a different place and be set further ahead in time. |
Props | the objects or items that are on stage during a play. They always have a purpose for being on stage! |
Stage Directions | They are usually written in parenthesis/italics, and they describe what a character does, how the character feels, or how the character should sound when they speak. |
Conflict | The main problem or struggle that takes place in the play. |
Drama | Refers to a literature that is written to be performed. |
Plot | The pattern of events that take place in a play. |
