| What is an inclined plane? | A flat surface that is raised so that one end is higher than the other. It helps move heavy objects up or down. |
| Name examples of an inclined plane. | Ramp, stairs, ladder |
| What is a wedge? | It is a tool wide at one end and pointed at the other to help cut or split other objects. |
| Name examples of a wedge. | knife, ax, chisel, blades of scissors, door stop, bow of a ship, wing of an airplane, oar |
| What is a wheel and axle? | A rod attached to a wheel. It makes it easier to move or turn things. |

| What is a pulley? | It is a wheel that has a rope wrapped around it. Pulleys can be used to lift heavy objects by changing the direction or amount of the force needed to move the object. |
