| Term | Definition |

| Radiation | A form of heat transfer where heat is transferred through empty space |
| Thermal Conduction | The movement of heat from one solid to another one, or movement of heat from a warmer object to a cooler object through direct contact. |
| Convection | Heat transfer from the molecules in fluids, and carrying energy up, where it cools and sinks, heats up, and rises again. |
| Convection Currents | Currents in fluid caused by convection where heat rises, cools, sinks, and repeats. |
| Greenhouse Effect | The process in which solar radiation is bounced from Earth's surface to the atmosphere back to Earth's surface again. |
| Global Warming | A term used to describe the slight increase in average temperatures on Earth. |
