TermDefinition
samples A subset (group) of a given population with the same characteristics as the whole population.
representative sample A subgroup of the population that has the similar characteristic of interest as that of the whole population. Representative samples are usually the result of random sampling
convenience sample A subgroup of the population for which it was easy to collect data. A convenience sample is not a random sample.
cluster sample A subgroup of the population that has the similar characteristic of interest as that of the whole population. A cluster sample is one way to obtain a representative sample.
