Rhetoric for 10th grade

| Ethos | Author's credibility on a subject to persuade |
| Logos | How and author uses logic to prove their point |
| Pathos | How the author elicits emotions out of the audience to persuade |
| Alliteration | Repetition of beginning sounds to bring attention to a section |
| Diction | Author's intentional word choice for a purpose |
| Hyperoble | Excessive exaggeration |
| Anaphora | Repetition of beginning words or phrases in multiple sections |
| Metaphor | Comparison not using like or as, form of figurative language. |
| Parallelism | Sections of a sentence that are grammatically similar to themselves (example: listing three verbs that all end in -ing) |
| Repetition | Author says or writes a word several times for emphasis |
| Antithesis | Opposite ideas are presented in one parallel sentence |
| Anastrophe | Inversion of normal word order |
