| achieve | to do; succeed in doing; accomplish |
| formula | a way of doing something that is repeated without much thought |
| legislate | to make or pass laws |
| policy | a plan, rule, or way of acting |
| principle | a rule that is used in deciding how to behave |
| argument | a carefully stated claim supported by reasons or evidence |
| claim | a writer's position on a problem or an issue |
| support | the reasons and evidence that help to prove the claim |
| face | confront and deal with or accept |
| conjunctive adverbs | a function word that connects two independent clauses |
| subordinating conjuctions | conjunction that introduces a subordinate clause |
| bandwagon | encourages people to buy a product or support a cause so they will fit in with others |
| testimonial | a formal statement testifying to someone's character and qualifications; a public tribute to someone and to their achievements |
