Aerobic (adj) Making your heart and lungs stronger by making them work hard for several minutes or more, as in aerobic exercise
Beat (v, n) (v-1) To contract the heart to make the blood pump through your body (v-2) To hit something again and again (n) The sound produced by beating something
Block (n, v) (n-1) An area of land surrounded by 4 streets in a city (n-2) A solid material that is usually square or rectangular (v) To place something in front so that people or things cannot pass
Boil (v) To become so hot that bubbles form in a liquid and rise to the top
Co-worker (n) Someone you work with
Create (v) To make or produce something; to cause something new to exist
Damage (n, v) (n) Physical harm done to something or someone (v) To physically harm something
Destruction (n) The act or process of damaging something so badly that it no longer exists or cannot be repaired
Financial (adj) Having to do with money
Float (v, n) (v) To rest on top of a liquid (n) Something that floats, like a raft
Flood (n, v) (n) A large amount of water covering an area of land that is usually dry (v) To cover land with a flood
Flow (v, n) (v) To move in a steady and continuous way, like a river (n) The act of flowing, e.g. the flow of traffic
Freeze (v) To become a hard solid as the temperature falls
Grumpy (adj) Easily annoyed; in a bad mood
Heart rate The speed at which your heart beats over a period of time
Improve (v) To make something better
Increase (v, n) (v) To become larger or greater in size, amount, number, etc. (n) The act of becoming larger or of making something larger or greater
Lie (v) (v-1) To be in a flat position on a surface, such as a bed [lie, is lying, lay (simple past)] (v-2) To say or write something that is not true [lie, is lying, lied (simple past)]
Lively (adj) Very active and energetic
Marine (adj) Relating to the sea or plants and animals that live there
Mood (n) The way someone feels; their emotional state
Natural disaster (n) (n) A sudden and terrible event in nature (such as a hurricane, tornado, or flood) that usually results in serious damage and many deaths
Nosy (adj) Wanting to know about other people's lives, problems, (when it is not appropriate)
Oxygen (n) A chemical that is found in the air, that has no color, taste, or smell, and that is necessary for life
Pollution (n) (n-1) the action or process of making land, water, air, etc., dirty and not safe or suitable to use (n-2) substances that make land, water, air, etc., dirty and not safe or suitable to use
Produce (v) To make or grow something
Revolve (v) To move around a center point
Skip (v) To not do something that is usual or expected
Spicy (adj) (food) flavored with, or containing, strong spices
Strand (n) A thin piece of thread, wire, hair, etc.
Stretch (v) To make (something) wider or longer by pulling it
Supply (v, n) (v) To make something available to be used (n) The amount of something that is available to be used
Support (v) To give help or assistance
Term (n) (n-1) A part of the school year; a semester (n-2) A length of time (for a contract, to be in political office, etc.)
Type (n) A particular kind or group of things or people
Variety (n) A number of different things or people, usually used with "of", e.g., variety of books
Vegetarian (n) A person who does not eat meat
Widow (n) A woman whose husband has died
Widower (n) A man whose wife has died
Elderly (adj) Old or rather old; past middle age.
Sandcastle (n) A small model of a castle or other building made of wet sand, as by children at a beach
Effect (n) A change that results when something is done or happens
Affect (v) To produce an effect on someone or something
Lunch break The time when people stop working or studying to have lunch
Few (adj) Not many, but some; 2-3
Whistle (v, n) (v) to make a high sound by blowing air through your lips or teeth (n-1) a high and loud sound made by forcing air through your lips or teeth (n-2) a small tube that makes a very high and loud sound when a person blows air through it
