What is the law of conservation of mass? mass is not lost or gained during a reaction, but is moved from place to place, or changed from one form to another
What are the chemicals on the left-hand side of the arrow in a chemical equation called? reactants
What are the chemicals on the right-hand side of the arrow in a chemical equation called? products
What part of a chemical equation indicates that a reaction is taking place? the arrow
What does increasing temperature do to the rate of most chemical reactions? increases the rate
What does increasing the surface area of chemicals do to the rate of most reactions? increases the rate
How can the surface area of a crystal increased? by crushing it into smaller pieces
What is the basic thing that needs to happen to increase the rate of any reaction? The reactants molecules must be turned the right way, and they have to hit each other with enough speed and energy cause them to react.
