| magnet | any object that attracts the metal iron |
| magnetic domain | group of atoms whose magnetic fields point in the same direction. |
| magnetic force | attraction or repulsion between magnets |
| magnetic material | is strongly attracted to a magnet |
| magnetic pole | place on a magnet where the force it exerts is the strongest. |
| permanent magnet | keeps its magnetism after being removed from the magnetic field. |
| temporary magnet | keeps its magnetism after being removed from the magnetic field. |
| electromagnet | a magnet created by wrapping a current- carrying wire around a ferromagnetic core. |
