| setting | when and where the story takes place |
| plot | the events in the story |
| conflict | problem in the story |
| resolution | answer to the conflict or problem |
| literal language | means exactly what it says- it is raining hard |
| nonliteral language | does not mean exactly what it says: it is raining cats and dogs |
