buoyancy the tendency to float or rise in a fluid (liquid or gas)
conductivity the ability of a substance to conduct heat, sound, or electricity
mass the measure of the amount of matter in a solid, liquid, or gas (measured in grams)
odor the ability of a substance to give off a certain smell
condensation the changing of a gas into a liquid
evaporation the changing of a liquid into a gas
liquid a state of matter with a definite volume but without a definite shape
mixture 2 or more substances are mixed together but can be separated out because they are not chemically combined (think salad--you mix lettuce, tomatoes, carrots, etc. in a big salad bowl-they aren't chemically combined so you can separate those things back out)
precipitation water leaving the clouds as rain, snow, sleet, or hail
solid a state of matter in which material has a definite volume and shape
vapor particles of moisture suspended in air and visible as clouds, smoke, etc.
solvent the substance that dissolves another substance in a solution
boiling point temperature at which a substance changes from a liquid to a gas (changes depending on the substance)

energy the ability to do work or cause a change

solution a mixture in which a substance breaks up into its most basic particles and spreads evenly through another substance
solute the substance that is dissolved in a solution
