Nonfiction Text Features

TermDefinition
label helps the reader identify what is in a picture
photograph allows the reader to see what an object or item looks like
caption this helps the reader to understand more about the picture
comparison makes it easier to see how two things compare to each other
cutwaways provide a way to see inside something
maps show a geographical representation of an area
close-ups help the reader get a close up view of something
table of contents tells the reader where chapters begin
index allows the reader to look up a topic or subject and find the page number where that subject can be found
glossary gives the definitions for a text's vocabulary
