| hypothesis | something not proved but assumed to be true for purposes of argument or further study or investigation |
| acclaim | praise, applaud |
| obedience | the act of obeying : willingness to obey |
| vindictive | likely to seek revenge /meant to be harmful |
| ingenuity | skill or cleverness in discovering, inventing, or planning |
| narrative | something (as a story) that is told or written |
| metaphor | a figure of speech in which a word or phrase meaning one kind of object or idea is used in place of another to suggest a similarity between them (as in the ship plows the sea) |
| simile | a figure of speech in which things different in kind or quality are compared by the use of the word like or as (as in eyes like stars) |
| thesis | a statement put forth for writing, the main idea of an essay/paper |
| epic | of, relating to, or being like an epic <an epic poem |
| narrative poem | poem that tells a story |
| personification | the representation of a thing or idea as a person or by the human form. |
| onomatopoeia | the naming of a thing or action by imitation of natural sounds (as "buzz" or "hiss") |
| rhyme scheme | the arrangement of rhymes in a stanza or a poem (example ABAB) |
| rhythm | a flow of rising and falling sounds in language that is produced in verse by a regular repeating of stressed and unstressed syllables |
| innovation | the introduction of something new/ a new idea, method, or device |
