What is energy? the ability to do work or cause change
What is kinetic energy? energy of motion
What is potential energy? energy that is stored
What is mechanical energy? energy associated with motion or position of an object.
What is thermal energy? energy associated with the movement of particles of an object that creates heat
What is the Law of Conservation of Energy? Energy can be converted from one form to another but now energy is loss, destroyed or created in the process.
What is gravitational energy? energy of position or height
What is chemical energy? energy stored in bonds of atoms and molecules
What is electrical energy? movement of electrons
What is nuclear energy? energy stored in the nucleus of an atom; released when nucleus splits or combines.
What is potential energy dependent upon? position and condition.
What is the formula for kinetic energy? KE = mass x velocity 2(squared) divided by 2
What type of energy would represented at the top of a roller coaster track? Potential Energy
What type of energy would be found at the bottom of a roller coaster track? Kinetic Energy
What type of energy transformation happens in a toaster? electrical to radiant to mechanical
What type of energy transformation occurs in a flashlight? chemical to electrical to radiant
