TermDefinition
Metal Left of the stair step, loose electrons in a chemical reaction, and they are shiny, malleable, ductile and they are good conductors.
Metalloid Border the stair step line, and the have properties of both metals and non- metals.
Non- metal Right of the stair step line, they gain electrons in chemical reactions.
Periodic law Repeating chemical and physical properties of elements change.
Atomic symbol Identifies the element, the first letter is always capitalized all others are lower case.
Protons Positive, has a mass of 1 amu discovered by Rutherford.
Neutrons A subatomic particle with no charge, mass of 1 amu, discovered by Chadwick.
Electrons Negative subatomic particle, located in the electron cloud, mass of 0 amu, was discovered by Thompson.
