Understanding Multiplication

| repeated addition | Adding the same number again and again in order to find the answer to a multiplication problem. |
| product | the answer to a multiplication problem |
| array | an arrangement of objects into rows of equal length and columns of equal length |
| factor | a number multiplied by another number |
| commutative property | the order in which numbers are multiplied does not change the product |
| equal groups | having the same number of objects in each group |
| tree diagram | uses "branches" to show all possible combinations |
| combination | making a new set that has one item from each groups |
| multiplication | an operation of numbers than can be thought of as repeated addition |
| X | the symbol that means multiply |
