Inclined Plane a simple machine that is a flat, sloped surface
Wedge a simple machine that is an inclined plane that moves
Screw a simple machine that is an inclined plane wrapped around a central cylinder to form a spiral
Lever a simple machine that consists of a rigid bar that pivots, or rotates, around a fixed point
Fulcrum the fixed point around which a lever pivots
1st Class Lever a lever where the FULCRUM is located between the EFFORT force and the resistance (LOAD)
2nd Class Lever a lever where the resistance (LOAD) is located between the EFFORT force and the FULCRUM
3rd Class Lever a lever where the EFFORT force is located between the FULCRUM and the resistance (LOAD)
Pulley a simple machine that consists of a grooved wheel with a rope or cable wrapped around it
Wheel and Axle a simple machine that consists of two attached circular objects, each with a different radius, which rotate around a common axis
Compound Machine a device that combines two or more simple machines
