Different terms about ICT that will help students better understand them.

| HyFlex | a course design model that presents the components of hybrid learning in a flexible course structure that gives students the option of attending sessions in the classroom, participating online, or doing both. |
| Gamification | ...Applying the game theory and mechanics in non-game contexts. Provides incentives to perform tedious tasks. |
| Massive Open Online Courses | ...A course in which materials and instruction are delivered over the internet to users around the world. The course is designed to connect instructors with learners interested in a common topic and works best with a large user-base and open content. |
| Backchannel Communication | ...vocalizations by a listener that give feedback to the speaker to show interest, attention, and/or a willingness to keep listening |
| Flipped Classroom | A "flipped classroom" is one in which teachers do not simply lecture to students for the entire class period. What would traditionally be a face-to-face lecture is then recorded and posted online for the students to watch as "homework." |
| Clickers | intended for audience participation, hardware and software used to create surveys and polls in order to receive and graphically display students' responses. |
| Avatar | A three-dimensional model, two-dimensional icon, or constructed personality that is assumed by the user of an internet site. |
| Upload | To transfer information stored in the user's system to a remote computer system. |
| Download | The process of transferring a copy of a file from a remote computer to a local computer's storage device. |
| Firewall | A combination of security algorithms and router communications protocols that prevent outsiders from tapping into corporate databases and e-mail systems. |
| Local Area Network | A series of connected personal computers, workstations, and other devices, such as printers or scanners, within a confined space, such as an office building. |
| Wide Area Network | A computer network that covers a large geographical area. Most WANs are made up of several connected LANs. |
| Intranet | A network designed for the exclusive use of computer users within an organization that cannot be accessed by users outside the organization |
| Extranet | A network that connects enterprise intranets to the global Internet. Designed to provide access to selected external users. |
| Ethernet | A common local area network standard for hardware communication and cabling |
| Browser | A program that accesses and displays files and other data available on the Internet and other networks. |
| Web search engine | It is a program designed to help people locate info on the Web by formulating simple keyword queries; in response to a query, displays results or "hits" as a list of relevant Web sites |
| Web 3.0 | A combination of technologies that adds intelligence and changes how people interact with the web, and vice versa |
| Modem | A communications device that converts computer characters into out going signals and converts incoming signals into computer characters - Telecommunication device (essential for connecting computer to a network) |
