Projection Unacceptable feelings are repressed & Projected onto somebody else.
Displacement Person who directs emotions toward people/objects that aren’t real source of feelings.
Reaction Formation Feeling that causes anxiety is transformed into opposite feeling.
Regression reverting to a previous phase of development.
Denial Refusing to admit problem
Oral Stage —(0-1 yr.)—babies experience world through the mouth-“Oral Fixation” —Smoking, overeating, biting nails
Anal Stage —(2-3 yr.)—toilet training—if training is too strict or unorganized
Anal retentive up tight, neat, clean
Anal expulsive messy, disorganized
Phallic Stage —(3-6 yr.)—Unconscious desires for parent of opposite sex.

Electra Complex ”Daddy’s Girl”
Latency —(7-11 yr)—Non-sexual Stage
Genital Stage —(12+ yr.)—Come to terms with sexuality—personality is formed & stable by previous stages.
Carl Jung partnered with Freud, but they disagreed about fundamentals.
