three stages of a river youth maturity Old age
V shaped valleys erosion: the river erodes vertically downwards. weathering:as the river cuts downwards its steep sides are attacked by weathering. this looosens and breaks up the rock and soil.
Mass movement GRAVITY causes the loose material to slide or creep downslope into the river.
v shaped valleys the river transports the material away. All these activities combine a v shaped valley.
Interlocking Spurs These are areas of ground which seem to lock into each other as they stick out across a v shaped valley.
