| Reference Point | Place or object used for comparison to see if something is in motion. |
| Distance | Length of path between two points. |
| Displacement | Length and direction that an object has moved from starting point. |
| Vector | Magnitude and direction of motion |
| Speed | Distance object travels per unit of time. |
| Average Speed | Overall Speed in which object moves |
| Instantaneous Speed | Rate at which object is moving at given time |
| Velocity | Speed in a given direction. |
| Slope | Steepness of graph. |
| Acceleration | Rate at which velocity changes over time. |
| Work | When an object is caused to move a certain distance. |
| Energy | The ability to work or cause change. |
| Kinetic Energy | Energy an object has due to its motion. |
| Potential Energy | Stored energy resulted from position and shape of object. |
| Gravitational Potential Energy | Potential Energy related to an object's height. |
| Elastic Potential Energy | Potential energy of compressible objects. |
| Mechanical Energy | Object's combined kinetic and potential energy. |
| Law of Conservation of Energy | energy cannot be created or destroyed. |
