Scientific Method
Vocabulary for the Scientific Method Unit
| Term | Definition |

| Scientific Method | A series of steps that are used to investigate a natural occurence. |
| Observation/Research (Step 1) | Make observations about the world around you and/or research a topic you find interesting. |
| Problem/Question (Step 2) | Develop a question or problem that can be solved through experimentation. |
| Hypothesis | you make an educated guess or predication about what you think the answer to your question might be. |
| Experiment | develop and follow a procedure. Include a detailed materials list. |
| Collect and Analyze data | modify the procedure if needed. Confirm the results by retesting. Include tables, graphs, chars, journal entries, and photographs. |
| Conclusion | You stated whether you ACCEPT or REJECT your |
| Communicate Results | Share your results. Be prepared to present your results to an audience. Expect questions from the audience. |
| Control Group | the group that serves as the standard of comparison. This is the group you compare to all other groups you test. |
| Constant | are all the factors that the experimenter attempts to keep the same. |
| Variable | this is what you are testing. This is what will change in the experiment. |
