Nervous System Terms

Nervous System the most complex of the body organ systems.
Nervous system primary function the body's system of communication
Neuron Nerve cell is the basic functional unit in this system. over 100 billion neurons in the brain. Neurons also transmit information from the brain to the entire body.
Primary Parts Brain & Spinal cord CNS
Peripheral nervous system composed of nerves that branch out from the spinal cord
Autonomic nervous system controls the automatic functions of the body: breathing, digestion, etc
Somatic nervous system controls the voluntary actions of the body: muscle movements
