Endocrine System consists of glands that secret hormones, chemicals that assist in regulating body functions.
Pituitary Gland produces multiple hormones & is located at the base of the brain. It controls the body's growth & releases hormones into the bloodstream that control much of the activity of the other glands.
Thyroid Gland Located just below the larynx & releases hormones important for regulating body metabolism
Thymus Gland located beneath the sternum.
Pancreas Best known for its production of insulin & glucagon.
Adrenal Glands located on top of the kidneys & produce such hormones as aldosterone, cortisol, (hydrocortisone), androgens & estrogens.
hyperlipidemia hyper - high lipid - fat emia - blood increase of lipids in the blood
hypothyroidism hypo - low thyroid - thyroid gland ism - condition deficiency of thyroid secretion
hyperglycemia hyper - high glyc - sugar emia - blood high blood sugar
