Character Types

| Dynamic Character | (noun) a literary or dramatic character who undergoes an important inner change, as a change in personality or attitude. |
| Static Character | (noun) a literary or dramatic character who undergoes little or no inner change; a character who does not grow or develop. |
| Round Character | (noun) Complex character that portrays both positive and negative qualities; not easily defined |
| Flat Character | (noun) simplified character and only has one or a few qualities. |
| theme | the universal message an author is trying to get across to readers |
| Personification | a style used by authors to increase mood. It is when an author gives human qualities to non human objects. |
| Abrasive | (adjective) tending to annoy or cause ill will; overly aggressive. |
| Tone | the attitude that an author takes toward the audience, the subject or the character |
| Mood | Emotions that you feel while you are reading a piece. |
| Imagery | words that authors use to help create a picture in the reader's mind. |
| Setting | where a story takes place |
