Radiographic Noise

Define radiographic noise. Deterioration of the radiographic image.
What is 2nd definition of radiographic noise? Random background information detected but not contributing to image quality.
Causes of radiographic noise. Number of x-rays used to expose patient or mAs; limited absorption efficiency of x-rays in intensifying screens; randomness of x-rays to light conversion process
Define radiographic mottle. Given to nonuniform or nonhomogenous appearance of the recorded image, more commonly associated with high-speed recording systems.
Film Graininess Mottle Attributed to the random distribution of silver halide grains in emulsion.
Screen Structure Attributed to phosphor crystal size and concentration thickness of active layer.
Quantum Mottle Attributed to random absorption.
Spatial Resolution Ability to produce an accurate and clear image.
