Cell Membrane protects the cell and regulates what enters and leaves the cell
Polar Phosphate head that faces the outside and inside of cell, freely interacting with water.
Non-Polar Fatty acid tails, attached to phosphate head that remain facing inside of cell membrane, avoiding water in and out of cell.

Fluid Mosaic Flexible Lipid bilayer with proteins embedded
Simple Diffusion Small molecules like oxygen, water, and Carbon Dioxide can move through the lipid layer from high to low concentration.
Facilitated Diffusion Molecules travel from high to low, through channel protein.
Semi-Permeable Lets SOME things pass through
Equilibrium concentration is the same throughout the system
Active Transport Uses ATP energy to move molecules across the membrane
Passive Transport Does not require energy to move molecules across the membrane
Channel Protein Protein that allows certain molecules to pass in and out of cell, from high to low concentration
Protein Pump protein that allows specific molecules in and out of cell, from high to low concentration, and uses ATP
