describe the difference between pure substances (e and c)and mixtures
| Term | Definition |

| pure substance | a sample of matter either a single element or compound that has definite chemical and physical property |
| compound | a substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical bonds |
| molecule | the smallest unit that keep all of the physical and chemical properties of that substance |
| chemical formula | a combination of chemical symbols and numbers to represent a substance |
| subscript | a small number written to the right and below a chemical symbol to tell the number of atoms of that element in the substance |
| mixture | a combination of two or more substances that are not chemically combined |
