Energy The power to change things and the ability to do work
Elastic Potential Energy The energy stored in any type of stretched or elastic material
Gravitational Potential Energy Any System of 2 or more objects separated by a distance
Kinetic Energy The energy of a moving object
Electrical Energy the movement of electrical charges
Radiant energy electromagnetic waves that travel in transverse waves
Sound Energy the movement of energy through substances in longitudinal (compression/rarefaction) Waves
Thermal Energy or heat, is the internal energy in substances
Motion Energy the movement of objects and substances from one place to another
Chemical Energy energy stored in the bonds of atoms and molecules
Nuclear Energy energy stored in the nucleus of an atom
Nuclear Fission Nuclear power plants split the nuclei of uranium atoms in a process called fission
Nuclear Fusion The sun combines the nuclei of hydrogen atoms in a process called fusion.
Mechanical Energy The sum of the kinetic and potential energy of large scale objects
NonMechanical Energy Energy that doesn't involve large scale motion or position of objects in a system
Work only when force causes a change in motion of an object in the direction of the applied force
Power the rate at which work is done
Potential energy stored energy resulting from the relative positions
