Golden- Motion Test

9/14/15 - Distance, Displacement, Variables, Formulas, Control, Sample Size

QuestionAnswer
What is Distance? how much ground an object has covered during its motion.
What is Displacement? how far out of place an object is, it is the overall change in position.
What is an Independent Variable? what you CHANGE (ex. distance you hold the TV remote). It is the variable that makes one test "independent" of another test. (graphed on x axis).
What is a Dependent Variable? the RESULT of the independent variable (ex. is the TV turned on?) . It is what is measured, and depends on what you changed.
What are Controls? the things that are kept the same during the entire experiment (ex. how the remote was held or the button being pushed).
which variable is "the cause?" Independent Variable
which variable is "the effect?" Dependent Variabe
What is a Scientific Control? an experiment or observation designed to minimize the effects of variables.
The object that appears to not be moving is known as.. Reference Point
what is motion when an object changes position.
speed formula? speed= distance / time
velocity? speed with direction
