Describe the movement of particles in solids, liquids, gases, and plasma states
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| State of Matter | The physical forms of matter, which includes solid, liquid, and gas |
| Solid | The state of matter in which the volume and shape of a substance are fixed |
| Gas | A form of matter that does not have any definite volume or shape |
| Melting Point | Temperature at which a solid changes to a liquid |
| Vaporization | Process in which a liquid changes to a gas |
| Boiling Point | The temperature at which a liquid vaporizes and changes to a gas |
| Condensation | The change of state from a gas to a liquid |
| Freezing Point | Temperature at which a liquid changes into a solid |
| Sublimation | The process in which a solid changes directly into a gas |
| Phase-Change Diagram | Drawing that shows the relationships among temperature and changes of state |
| Plasma | A state of matter that forms when temperatures are enough to completely remove electrons from the atoms to which they were bound |
