Describe the movement of particles in solids, liquids, gases, and plasma states.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| State of Matter | The physical forms of matter, which include solid, liquid, and gas. |
| Solid | The state of matter in which the volume and shape of a substance are fixed. |
| Gas | A form of matter that does not have definite volume or shape. |
| Melting point | Temperature at which a solid changes to a liquid. |
| Vaporization | Process in which a liquid changes to a gas. |
| Boiling point | The temperature at which a liquid vaporizes and changes to a gas. |
| Condensation | The change of a state from a gas to a liquid. |
| Freezing point | Temperature at which a liquid changes into a solid. |
| Sublimation | The process in which a solid changes directly into a gas. |
| Phase- change diagram | drawing that shows the relationships among temperature and changes of state. |
| Plasma | A state of matter that forms when temperatures are enough to completely remove electrons from the atoms to which they were bound |
