Term | Definition |
---|---|
state of matter | the physical forms of matter, which include solid, liquid, and gas state of matter |
solid | the state of matter in which the volume and shape of a substance are fixed solid |
gas | a form of matter that does not have definite volume or shape gas |
melting point | temperature at which a solid changes to a liquid melting point |
vaporization | process in which a liquid changes to a gas vaporation |
boiling point | the temperature at which a liquid vaporizes and changes to a gas boiling point |
condensation | the change of state from a gas to a liquid condensation |
freezing point | temperature at which a liquid changes into a solid freezing point |
sublimation | he process in which a solid changes directly into a gas sublimation |
phase change diagram | drawing that shows the relationships among temperature and changes of state phase change diagram |
plasma | a state of matter that forms when temperatures are enough to completely remove electrons from the atoms to which they were bound plasma |
