Describe the difference between pure substances (e and c) and mixtures.
Term | Definition |
---|---|
Pure substances | A sample of matter, either a single element or a single compound, that has definite chemical and physical properties. |
Compound | A substance made up of atoms of two or more different elements joined by chemical bonds. |
Molecule | The smallest unit of a substance that keeps all physical and chemical properties of that substance. |
Chemical formula | A combination of chemical symbols and numbers to represent a substance. |
Subscript | A small number written to the right and slightly below a chemical symbol to tell the number of atoms of that element in a substance. |
Mixture | A combination of two or more substances that are not chemically combined |
