Describe the movement of particles in a solid, liquid, gases, and plasma states
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| State of Matter | the physical forms of matter , which include solid, liquid, and gas. |
| Solid | the state of volume in which the volume and shape of a substance are fixed. |
| Gas | a form of matter that does not have a definite volume or shape |
| Melting Point | temperature at which solids turn into liquids. |
| Vaporization | the process in which liquids turn into gases |
| Boiling point | the temperature at which liquid vaporizes and turns into a gas |
| Condensation | the change of state from a liquid to a gas |
| Freezing Point | temperature at which turn into solids. |
| Sublimation | the process in which a solid turns directly into gas. |
| Phase-Change Diagram | drawing that shows the relationships among temperature and changes of state |
| Plasma | A state of matter that forms when temperatures are enough to completley remove electrons from the atoms to which they were bound |
