Distinguish between atoms and molecules
Term | Definition |

Atom | the smallest unit of an element that maintains the properties of that element. |
Element | a substance that cannot be separated or broken down into smaller substances by chemical means. |
Nucleus | in physical science, an atom's central region, which id made of protons and neutrons. |
Electrons | a subatomic particle that has a negative charge. |
Atomic Number | the number of protons in the nucleus of an atom; the atomic number is the same for all atoms of an element. |
Neutral | having no overall charge. |
Atomic Mass | the mass of an atom expressed in atomic mass units. |
Chemical Symbol | a 1 or 2 letter code that represents an element. |
Protons | a subatomic particle that has a positive charge and is found in the nucleus of an atom |
Neutron | a subatomic particle that has no charge and is found in the nucleus of an atom. |
