8th Grade Chapter 1

What is the total distance divided by the total time an object travels? average speed
When you type a fraction into your calculator, in what order do you type in the numbers? top divided by bottom
If the question gives you the time first and the distance later, does the time go in the top of the average speed formula? NO! The distance always goes on the top, no matter what order the question gives them.
If the question gives you a time that is larger than the distance, do you still put distance on the top of the average speed formula? Yes!! You always put distance in the top and time in the bottom of the average speed formula.
What makes an average speed answer perfect? Having the right number AND the right unit.
How do you know what unit to put at the end of an average speed answer? Just use the units that were provided in the question.
Does every average speed answer have m/s for the units? No. Sometimes the units are something like km/h, or cm/s.
What do you call a speed that doesn't change? a CONSTANT speed
