|---|---|
| How is speed defined? | The distance an object travels divided by the time. |
| What is the formula for speed? | s = d/t |
| What is constant speed? | Speed that stays the same over time. This is very difficult to achieve. |
| What is velocity? | Speed in a certain direction. |
| What is acceleration? | The rate at which velocity changes. |
| What is free fall? | Accelerated motion that happens when an object falls only with the force of gravity acting on it. |
| What is acceleration due to gravity? | The value of 9.8 m/s2. This is the acceleration in free fall at the earth's surface.Often represented by the small letter g. |
| Force | A push or pull. |
| Friction | A force that resists the motion ob objects or surfaces. |
| Newton | The metric unit of force, equal to the force needed to make a 1 kg object accelerate at 1 m/s2. 4.448 newtons=1 lbs. |
| Newton's 1st Law | An object at rest will stay at rest and an object in motion will stay in motion with the same velocity unless acted on by an unbalanced force. |
| Newton's 2nd Law | Acceleration is force divided by mass. |
| Newton's 3rd Law | For every action force, there is a reaction force equal in strength and opposite in direction. |
| Potential Energy | Energy of position. |
| Kinetic energy | Energy of motion. |
