American Society or Health-System Pharmacist (ASHP) Association of pharmacist , pharmacy students, and technicans practicing in hospitals and health care systems including home health care
Automated Dispensing Systems (ADS) Electronic systems used to dispense medications
Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) A non-profit organization devoted entirely to the improvement of health care by promoting promising concepts through safety, efficiency, and other patient centered goals
Institute for Safe Medication Practices (ISMP) A non-profit organization devoted entirely to promoting safe medication use and prevent medication errors they gather information on drug errors and suggest new safer standards to avoid such errors
Institute of Medicine (IOM) Established under the National Academics and part of the National Academy of Science this non-profit organization provides significantly informed analysis and guidance regarding health and health policies
Medication Error Prevention Methods used by pharmacy, medicine, nursing, and other allied health professionals to prevent medication errors
MEDMARX A national internet-accessible database that hospitals and health care systems use to track adverse drug effects or medication errors
MedWatch Program established by the FDA for reporting drug and medical product safety alerts; has a voluntary adverse event reporting system for reporting medications and devices
National Coordinating Council for Medication Error Reporting and Prevention (NCC MERP) Founded by the USP this is an independent council or more than 25 organizations gathered to address interdiscipinary causes of medication errors and strategies for prevention
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Offers a national certification for pharmacy technicians in the united states
Pharmacy Technician Educators Council (PTEC) U.S. organization that promotes teachers strategies and instructions for pharmacy technicians education
United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Independent organization that strives to ensure quality, safety, and benefit of medications and dietary supplements by setting standards and certification processes
