Compand A substance that is formed when atoms of two or more element together
Proton A tiny particle in the nucleus an atom
Election A tiny particle of an atom that move around the nucleus
Neutron A tiny particles in the nucleus of an atom that is similar to a proton
Atomic Number Number of protons in a specific element
Atomic Mass The number equals the sum of the protons and neutrons
Symbol One or two letters used to represent an name
Isotope An element that has a different number of neutrons than protons and electrons
Periodic Table An arrangement of element by atomic number
Deuterium An isotope of hydrogen that has one proton and one neutron
Tritium An isotope that has one neutron and two protons
Metals Type of element; usually solid at room temperature, shiny and good conducter
Nonmetals Type of element with properties unlike metals
Noble gases Type of element made up of gases that do not combine with others
Alloy A mixture of 2 or more
Inert Lacking the power to move
Family A group of elements with similar properties with arranged in a column on the periodic table
Energy levels One of the spaces around the nucleus of an atom in which an electron moves
Chemical formula Tells the kinds of atoms and how many of each kind are in a compound
Subscript A number in a formula that tells the number of atoms of an elements in a compoud
Radicals A group of two or more atom that acts like one atom.
Binary Compound A compound that contains two elements
Acid A compound that reacts with metals to produce hydrogen
Base A compound that contains the OH radical
pH A number that tells if an item is a base or acid
Motion A change in position
Speed The rate at which the position of an object changes
Distance The length of the path between two points
Constant Speed Speed that does not change
