certified pharmacy technicians A technician who has passed the national certification examination the technician can use the abbreviation CPhT after their name
Closed Door Pharmacy A pharmacy where prescriptions are called in from long-term care facility's and are then delivered they are not open to the public
Communication the ability to express oneself in a way that is readily and clearly understood
competency the capability or proficiency to preform an action
Confidentiality The practice of keeping privileged customer information from being disclosed with out the customers consent
Continuing Education Education beyond the basic technical training usually required for recertification of or renewal
Ethics the values and morals that are used within a profession
Hyperlimenetation intravenous nutrition for patients that are unable to eat solids or liquids
inpatient Pharmacy A pharmacy in a hospital or institutional type setting
Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT) National board for certification of pharmacy technicians
Licensed Pharmacy Technician A pharmacy technician who is licensed by the state board it ensures that they have at least the minimum degree of competency required by the profession unlike registered pharmacy technicians

National Association of Boards of Pharmacy (NABP) National organization for members of state boards of pharmacy
National Pharmacy Technician Association (NPTA) Pharmacy association primarily for pharmacy technicians founded in 1999
Outpatient Pharmacy's Pharmacy's that serve patients in their community's and are not inpatient facility's
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) National board for the certification of pharmacy technicians
Profesianlism conforming to the right principals of conduct as is accepted by others in the same profession
Protocol A standard that is to be met by all employees governs specific duties
Registered Pharmacy Technician A pharmacy technician who is registered through the state board of pharmacy usually requires a background check through the legal system but does not guarantee degree of their knowledge or skills
