TermDefinition
Psychology A scientific study of behavior and mental processes.
Behavior Any action that people can observe.
Theory A statement that attempts to explain why something is the way it is and happens the way it does.
Psychiatrist A medical doctor who specializes in the treatment of psychology problems and who can prescribe meds.
Introspection An examination of one's own thoughts and feelings.
Psychoanalysis A school for psychology.
Biological Perspective Psychological perspective that emphasize the influence of biology on behavior.
Constructs Ideas that cannot be seen or measured directly.
Hypothesis A prediction or assumption.
Survey A research technique for acquiring data about attitudes or behaviors of a group of people.
Bias A perdis positon to a certain point of view despite the facts.
Case Study In-depth study of a single person or group reveal some universal principle.
Variables Factors that are measures or controlled in a scientific study.
Control Group An experiment the group that does not receive the treatment.
Placebo Inert substance used in controlled experiments to test the effectiveness of another substance.
