Relative Density determines whether one substance will sink or float in another
Solid a substance with a definite shape and definite volume
Liquid a substance that has a definite volume but does not have a definite shape
Gas a substance that does not have a definite shape or volume
Buoyancy the ability to float
Conduct Electricity the ability to allow electricity to flow through it
Insulate/Conduct Thermal Energy Conduct- thermal energy passes through Insulate- thermal energy stays in place
Air Resistance a force that opposes the motion of an object through air
Wave the up and down movement of surface water, light, or sound
Wavelength the distance between a point on one wave and the identical point on the next wave
Transparent objects allow almost all light to pass through it
Translucent objects allow some light to pass through it
Opaque objects do not allow any light to pass through it
Frequency a measure of the number of waves that pass a point in a second
Sound Wave is a longitudinal wave that is caused by vibrations and travels through a material medium
Potential energy is stored energy based on position
Kinetic energy is energy of motion that does work in forms of electrical light, sound, and thermal energy
Convex light comes together brings light into focus makes objects larger
Concave light spreads out lens caves in
Parallel Circuit an electric circuit that has more than one path for electric charges to flow
Series Circuit an electric circuit in which the electric charges have only one path to follow
Solubility the ability of a substance to dissolve when mixed with another substance
