Poetry paint a picture with words Written in lines and stanzas
meter patterns of stressed and unstressed symbols, the rhythm of repeating patterns.
rhythm the patterns or beats in the lines of a poem.
free verse poems that do not rhyme and do not have a regular rhythm.
personifacation Giving human characteristics to non-living things.
alliteration repetitive of the same or very similar constant sounds in words that are close together.
hyperbole extreme exaggeration used to emphasis a point.
onomanatopepia the use of words that imitate sound.
simile use like or as to compare
metaphor comparison w/o like or as.
rhyme words that have the same sound.
allusion referring to something else
end rhyme words at the end of the sentence rhyme
stanza A paragraph in a poem
