Unit 7 Living Things


Photosynthesis the process by which plants, algae, and some bacteria use sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water to make food.
Cell respiration the process by which cells use oxygen to pruduce energy from food.
Reactants are the substances that are present before the chemical change takes place.
Products are the substances that are formed during the chemical change. They are the things that are present at the end.
Glucose (C6H12O6) sugar
Carbon dioxide (CO2)  is a colorless, odorless gas vital to plant life on earth.
Oxygen (O2) a colorless, odorless reactive gas.
Water (H2O) a colorless, transparent, odorless, tasteless liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers, and rain and is the basis of the fluids of living organisms.
Atoms the smallest particle of a substance that can exist by itself.
Energy pyramid A diagram that shows the transition of energy from one trophic level to another.
Trophic level- is the position that an organism occupies in a food chain - what it eats, and what eats it.
