conclude Ex: After reading paragraph 6, the reader can conclude that Allan was — from the story and what you know, what can you decide or understand
theme Ex: What is one theme presented in the selection? the lesson or moral of a story
detail Ex: Which detail from the story belongs in the blank? a statement from the story
summary Ex: What is the best summary of this story? the main points of the story or selection
synonym Ex: Which word is a synonym for ordinary in paragraph 1? a word that means the same
text features Ex: Which text feature in the article helps the reader understand how water flows from underground to people? the parts that stand out (title, headings, captions, graphs, pictures, etc.)
imagine Ex: In the poem, which words help the reader imagine the speaker’s experience? to form a picture in your head
speaker Ex: 6 The speaker in this poem is a young girl who — the person talking in the story
