RASH AREA OF RED, INFLAMED SKIN, OR A GROUP OF RED SPOTS, CAUSED BY IRRITATION, ALLERGY, OR DEFECTS TO THE SKIN'S STRUCTURE, SUCH AS BLOCKED PORES OR MALFUNCTIONING OIL GLANDS.
EXAMPLES OF RASHES ACNE, CONTACT DERMATITIS, ECZEMA, HIVES, ROSEA, AND PSORIASIS
ECZEMA INFLAMMATION WITH PIMPLE-LIKE BUMPS CHARACTERIZED BY ITCHING, RED, BLISTERING, OR OOZING AREAS OF THE SKIN, PROGRESSING TO SCALY, BROWNISH, OR THINKENED SKIN.
PSORIASIS CHRONIC IMMUNE DISORDER IN WHICH SPECIFIC IMMUNE CELLS BECOME OVERACTIVE AND RELEASE EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF PROTEINS CALLED CYTOKINES.
VIRAL INFECTIONS PENETRATES THE STRATUM CORNEUM AND INFECTS THE INNER LAYERS OF THE SKIN.
EXAMPLES OF VIRAL INFECTIONS HERPES SIMPLEX, WARTS, AND SHINGLES (HERPES ZOSTER)
TEMPORARY VIRAL INFECTIONS CHICKEN POX AND MEASLES
WHAT CANNOT CURE VIRAL INFECTIONS? ANTIBIOTICS OR ANTIBACTERIAL AGENTS CANNOT CURE VIRAL INFECTIONS, ONLY ANTIVIRAL MEDICATIONS AND TIME.
BACTERIAL SKIN INFECTIONS STAPHYLOCOCCI, STREPTOCOCCI, AND PSEUDOMONAS
BACTERIA INFECTS WHAT? THE TOPMOST LAYERS OF SKIN, THE FOLLICLES, OR DEEPER LAYERS OF SKIN.
FUNGAL SKIN INFECTIONS ALSO KNOWN AS "MYCOSES". OCCUR WHEN HARMLESS FUNGI, GAIN ENTRY INTO THE SKIN RATHER THAN STAYING ON THE OUTER LAYER OF THE SKIN(EPIDERMIS).
EXAMPLES OF FUNGAL SKIN INFECTIONS ATHLETE'S FOOT. JOCK ITCH, AND RINGWORM
PARASITIC INFECTIONS CAUSED BY INSECTS OR WORMS THAT BURROW INTO THE SKIN TO LIVE AND/OR LAY THEIR EGGS. PARASITES ENTER AND INFECT AN INJURED OR OPEN WOUND CAUSED BY A BLOW, CUT, OR BURN
EXAMPLES OF INFECTIONS CAUSED BY PARASITES SCABIES AND LICE
SCABIES SMALL RED BUMPS AND INTENSE ITCHING CAUSED BY MITES THAT BURROW IN THE SKIN FROM BEDDING AND MATTRESSES.
LICE INSECTS THAT LOOK LIKE CRABS UNDER THE MICROSCOPE.
