Randy's Science Exam

Randy Gervais Science Exam

QuestionAnswer
What do scientist do Scientist use skills such as observing, inferring, predicting, classifying, and making models to learn more about the world.
What is Scientific inquiry? Scientific inquiry refers to the diverse ways in which scientist study the natural world and propose explanations based on the evidence they gather. In science, a hypothesis must be testable. This means that researchers must be able to carry out investigat
What is the goal of technology? The goal of technology is to improve the way people live.
What prevents accidents? What do you do when an accident happens? Good preparation helps you stay safe when doing science activities. When any accident occurs, no matter how minor, notify your teacher immediately. Then listen to your teacher’s directions and carry them out quickly.
What do all living cellular organisms have in common? All living things have a cellular organization, contain similar chemicals, use energy, respond to their surrounding, grow and develop, and reproduce.
What are the basic needs of all living things? All living things must satisfy their basic needs for water, food, living space, and stable internal conditions.
Why do biologist used classifications? Biologists use classification to organize living things into groups so that the organisms are easier to study.
Who are organisms placed? Organisms are placed into domains and kingdoms based on their cell type, their ability to make food, and the number of cells in their bodies.
What are cells? Cells are the basic units of structure and function in living things.
What does the plant's cell do? A plant’s cell wall protects and supports the cell.
What does the cell membrane do? The cell membrane control what substances come into and out of a cell.
What does the cells nucleus do? The nucleus directs the cell’s activities.
What does mitochondria do? Mitochondria convert energy in food molecules to energy the cell can use.
What does the endoplasmic reticulum do? The endoplasmic reticulum carries materials throughout the cell.
What do Ribosomes do? Ribosomes produce proteins.
What do Golgi Bodies do? The Golgi bodies receive materials, package them, and distribute them.
What do choroplast do? Chloroplasts capture energy from sunlight and use it to produce food for the cell.
What are vacuoles? Vacuoles are the storage areas of cell.
What do Lysosomes Lysosomes contain chemicals that break down certain materials in the cell.
How are cell's organized? In many-celled organism, cells are often organized into tissues, organs, and organ system.
What is an element? An element is any substance that cannot be broken down into simpler substances.
What happens when two or more elements combine chemically? When two or more elements combine chemically, they form a compound.
Most chemical reactions in cells do or do not do what? Most chemical reactions in cells could not take place without water. Carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids are important groups of organic compounds in living things.
What is diffusion? Diffusion is the main method by which small molecules move across cell membranes.
What is osmosis? Osmosis is important because cells cannot function properly without adequate water.
what is active transport? Active transport requires the cell to use its own energy, while passive transport does not.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
