Echo | A reflected sound wave. |
Elasticity | The ability of a material to bounce back after being disturbed. |
Density | How much matter, or mass, there is in a given amount of space, volume. |
Loudness | Your perception of the energy of sound. |
Intensity | The amount of energy a sound wave carries per second through a unit area. |
Decibel | The loudness of different sounds. |
Pitch | A distinction of how high or hoe low the sound seems to a person. |
Ultrasound | Sound waves with frequencies above the normal human range of hearing. |
Infrasound | Sounds with frequencies below the normal human hearing range. |
Larnyx | Two flods of tissue that make up the Voice box, were vocal cords are located |
Doppler Effect | The change in frequency of a wave as its source moves in relation to an observer. |
Causes Doppler Effect | When a sound source moves, the frequency of the wave changes because the motion of the source adds to the motion of the waves. |
Causes Sonic Boom | People hear this when a shock wave passes by them. |
Fundamental Tone | The lowest natural frequency of an object. |
Overtone | The objects higher natural frequencies. |
Acoustics | The study of how sounds interact with each other and the environment. |
Reveration | In which the echoes of a sound are heard after the sound source stops producing sound waves. |
Ear Canal | A narrow region leading from the outside of the human ear to the eardrum. |
Ear Drum | A small, tightly stretched, drum like membrane in the ear. |
Cochlea | A fluid-filled cavity shaped like a snail shell. |
Echolocation | The use of reflected sound waves to determine distance or locate objects. |
Sonar | A system that uses reflected sound waves to detect and locate objects underwater. |
Sonogram | Uses the Reflected ultraviolet waves to create a picture. |
